Highlights & Updates

Hello Sentient Beings,

This has been a pretty wild and intense year on so many levels for me, for all of us.

I do feel that the fracturing of our sense of time, space, and reality has led many of us to begin grasping what is most meaningful in our lives, and to begin navigating new territory based on these insights.

I feel very grateful for the creative opportunities I’ve had this past year, and I look forward to new developments in the coming year…

Some of my 2021 Highlights:

BIMA:

As many of you know, this past year saw the opening of my debut solo museum exhibition: Kimberly Trowbridge: Into the Garden at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. The exhibition was a culmination of my two years of research as Creative Fellow in the gardens of Bloedel Reserve.

You can order the wonderful catalog that encapsulates my entire project HERE

Facebook:

During the run of my BIMA show, I had the incredible opportunity to create a 30-foot 3-D mural as part of the Facebook Open Arts program. Images of my PNW flora and fauna creation can be viewed HERE.

Original Mind Residency:

This past year I have helped develop a unique program called Original Mind Residency. This is an emerging community of creative thinkers and doers, with shared access to a beautiful retreat house at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. For more information about OMR and to set-up a visit, click HERE.

The Trowbridge Atelier:

I transitioned my program to be virtual and I am absolutely loving it. My students are present, ambitious, and insightful. I have students now from across the nation, as well as a thriving community of local students.

Please view some of their incredible recent works HERE.

Looking Forward to 2022:

Linda Hodges Gallery:

I will be showing a collection of recent “field works” this January at Linda Hodges Gallery. This is a meaningful and unique show for me, as all of the works were created on-site, en plein-air. Included are works from my time at OMR, from campsites on the Olympic Peninsula, and my own backyard. Preview some of the works HERE.

Sabbatical / Atelier Restructuring:

After 16 years of teaching, 7 as Director of the Trowbridge Atelier, I am finally taking a “sabbatical” next year! …I put sabbatical in quotes because I will remain Director of the program but will use this opportunity to re-structure and create a sustainable program that includes multiple Teaching-Artists. This is Very Exciting!

Stay tuned for more information and opportunities!

This next year I will be focusing my time on new creative projects including painting, sculpture, and writing, as well as taking part in several residency programs.

I am sending such love to all of you. Take very good care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Protect lots of time for your creative selves,

XO, Kimberly
